Groovy Girls Wiki

Vorgyo is a realistic-fiction tween-pop girls' group from the suburban town of Metairie, Louisiana; they are known as "The Princesses of Kidpop" because they introduce popular music styles to many children, pre-teens, teenagers and grown-ups all over the world like folk, Motown, jazz and hip-hop.

Origins[]

The Realistic-Fiction Backstory[]

At the Retro Pop Diner in Metairie, Gwen made up a girls' group with her five favourite friends; she used an anagram of her favourite word (groovy) to make the name of the group. When the six girlfriends of Vorgyo recruited their old girlfriends from infancy, those old girlfriends from the local daycare became The Vorgyettes, assistants who sing backups, duets, trios, quartets, quintets and solos. When the Vorgyettes were finally assembled, Vorgyo recruited their families, boyfriends and grown-up friends, including their mixer, producer, arranger and conductor, Geoffrey "Audio Guy" Goodwin, to be special guest singers; that's how the band was born!

The Real Backstory[]

Created by Tom Lynch and Tom Ruegger, Vorgyo was inspired by Manhattan Toy's Groovy Girls, but Vorgyo luckily had no lawsuits and no trademark infringements at all! Vorgyo's premiere day was on October 2, 2004 (where they sang on Sebastian and Cindy's Treehouse, an educational, sing-along music appreciation and celebration TV program for elementary age children 4-9 years old.) After they made their debut on public kids' TV, they had musical interstitials on Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon; their first album (and cartoon special) was "Livin' In a Groovy World," complete with lyrics and notes including cast info. Vorgyo has been to many special events and other programs around the world; they've also had many milestones like a really special album and cartoon DVD called "Vorgyo and Friends" (with special cartoon friends from two favourite animated shows: The Class of 3000 and The Superstar Sisters) and even their Totally 10th Anniversary back on October 2, 2014! Approaching "their Totally 20th Anniversary" quickly, Vorgyo fans old and young treat their classic performances like their best friends; after all, Vorgyo is all about making and keeping wonderful friends!
